Why you teach your child reading, writing and maths skills.
You can teach your child to succeed beyond anyone’s expectations!
I have been a student, teacher, and parent for most of my life. I have my Masters in Education, and have worked at Primary, Secondary and Tertiary level.
My experiences have taught me that children will improve their reading, writing and math skills beyond theirs and anyone else’s expectations, when they are in an environment which:
‣believes in them,
‣supports them to aim high, and
‣gives them the tools to reach their goals.
You create your child’s future
Why teach them how to learn reading, writing and math skills?
The family is often the most powerful influence in a child’s life, which brought me to the conclusion that if I can teach families how to teach their children reading, writing and math skills, not only the child will benefit but the whole family will.
You can learn how to easily teach your child.
The coaching methods taught to you in The Families as Coaches Programme will broaden your child’s reading, writing and math skills and knowledge, but more importantly, will develop their self-confidence and self-belief so that they become self-motivated learners. Then they will continue to eagerly and successfully learn new skills and knowledge for the rest of their lives.
Warm regards,

My five key beliefs
‣Every child has untapped intelligence they may not be aware of.
‣All children hunger to learn and develop.
‣If you treat a child as a highly intelligent person, they will believe you, and will act accordingly.
‣Effort makes an important difference in how successful a child is.
‣Children need effective strategies that help them learn new information and skills more easily.
It is important that families enjoy teaching their children reading, writing and math skills.
I want to share my knowledge with families who want to teach their children reading, writing and math skills. The Families as Coaches’ Programme guides you through the process of creating an effective coaching environment with your child that is enjoyable for you both.
Useful attitudes rule!
One very important finding in my research is that students achieve more highly when they believe that effort is important when learning.
My own children and those I work with teach me that when a child is in an environment where s/he is surrounded by people who support and believe in their intelligence and abilities, they will exceed beyond expectations.
Effort + smart strategies = smart people
Use smart strategies so your child enjoys and achieves highly when learning reading, writing and math skills.
Generally those students who apply effort and use all the study skills I give them, tend to achieve highly, regardless of their level of knowledge when they begin.
One of the two most effective strategies parents have is using the power of negotiation and the power of consequences with children.
Every child wants to learn how to read, write and do maths, but they may not know how to yet
I have learnt that when people understand how and why something works, then they can remember and use that information, and often get to love the subject. For example, phonics (the relationship between the letters and their sounds), must be understood thoroughly when people are learning to read. Check out The Weird Word Game.
I have enjoyed children becoming excellent readers, writers and mathematicians while working with their families.
Teach your child for 20 minutes a day and change their life forever.
I wish you lots of fun and success with your child..
